Finding (making) time to write and then actually writing is an endless struggle—especially now that I’ve changed my life around and I can now write during the day. (Writing during daylight? Weird!)
I have yet to find a schedule that works. I keep trying to set up rules and day plans—get up at the crack of dawn and work on a freelance project (or look for paying gigs) until noonish, break for lunch, then write for at least an hour (if I have time), then workout. But after so many years in a 9-to-5 job, I just can’t do rules (or anything that feels like a responsibility) right now. (Professional burnout is an ugly, ugly thing. I hope it never happens to any of you.)
And then I see pencils in both hometowns. If that’s not a sign that I got my priorities mixed up, what is?
So to heckaroo with this “responsibility” and “rules” do-do*. Now my only goal is simple: Write. Just write.
*Note: My old-fashioned daddy doesn’t like it when I cuss. Therefore, I will no longer cuss in posts. Happy now, pops?
