Hello Malcolm

While in high school I had exactly one date with a KU film student named Kevin. I thought he asked me out, as in he’d take me out (i.e., outside), but no—we spent the evening at his apartment watching “A Clockwork Orange.”

Despite having to fend off a couple awkward advances during the movie—including being told I was “as comfy as a lumpy couch” since I was much more interested in the movie than him—I loved this film.

Him, not so much.

Don’t tell me that you had to fend off The-Yawn-and-Stretch, the prime move of awkward teenage boys…

Call me crazy, but A Clockwork Orange doesn’t exactly scream “date movie” (even for a film student)

We were VERY young. And I don’t think he knew what he was doing (I sure didn’t). Or–and this felt more likely–he wasn’t really interested in me.
